Last Man Sitting

Are you the Last Man Sitting?

Firstly, we like new and fun games here at the How To Kill An Hour Studio. We like games that take a different spin on popular games. The games that step away from the norm to create something that everyone will love. A game that everyone will remember. Last Man Sitting is no different!

Last Man Sitting is a take on the popular saying “Last Man Standing” (Usually aimed at Wrestling and other types of shoot em up video games)

Consequently, the aim of the game is to be the Last Man Sitting. Literally.

Last Man Sitting: Plot

You sit in a chair and shoot other members with a shotgun trying to get them eliminated from the game. The last one standing. I mean sitting is the winner.

There is even a bunch of different game modes and types of chairs to use:

  • 4 Different Game Modes: Last Man Sitting, Battle Royal, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch
  • Singleplayer against Ai
  • Different Chairs to choose from
  • Couch Coop with up to 4 friends (split screen and multitrack camera)

(Steam)

Yet, what makes this game especially fun to play is the ragdoll physics for each of the characters. It sounds crazy! Yet, it just makes the game that much more enjoyable to play as a comedic element is add to a ridiculous game!

Furthermore, what makes the game even more interesting is that the developers PixelPizza are looking to develop the game further to include even more crazy things such as:

  • Online Multiplayer
  • Different Maps
  • Soccer Mode: Where the aim of the game is to score goals instead of beating each other up. This game mode is called: Last Man Kicking!
  • Level Editor
  • Destructible environment
  • Office Chair Race Mode

We love it!

Dyson

New ‘product’ from ‘Dyson’

So, the guys over at ‘Dyson’ have created a brand new product. It’s designed for the guys and it helps dry off a very specific area of the body.

It’s called the ‘Dyson’ ballblade and works just like the hand dryers you get in public restrooms. You stick your hands in the slot and the product jets out a burst of air. Blowing off any excess water you had on your hands.

This particular product is designed for your b*lls. It works by having the user sit down on the product and lower their man sack into the two ball shaped slots. Then. BOOM. A jet of air thrusts upwards and gets your b*lls dry as they were before you entered the shower.

Furthermore you can also use the included b*m hole cleaner too! By pressing a button a small hose type device emerges from the machine and shoots water. Just like on a bidet.

Squeaky clean they say!

Dyson: It’s not real.

However, don’t get too excited as you cannot buy this in the shops.

As we don’t think it’s real for some reason.

Netflix Movie Theatres

Netflix Movie Theatres??

Netflix Movie Theatres. Sounds cool right? Well, that may become a reality in the near future.  According to a report from the LA Times the streaming giant were in talks to acquire billionaire Mark Cuban’s Landmark Theatre chain. However, they backed out due to the cost. Yet all is not lost it seems. As a source from Variety claim that Netflix weren’t just interested in acquiring Landmark specifically. But are considering acquiring theatrical real estate.

Netflix Movie Theatres: Why?

Sources who have spoken to the Times are reporting that the reason Netflix are interested in purchasing theatrical real estate is due to wanting to earn the respect it deserves from major theatre chains and film establishments. But why? When the streaming giant already has the most paying subscribers than any other streaming service on the planet. (125M, compared to Amazon’s 100M) Owning a theatre would make it easier for Netflix to qualify for Hollywood awards like the Oscars.

Netflix Movie Theatres: The Oscars

As having a theatrical release is one of the stipulations that you require to be eligible for the prestigious award. Yet there are problems here too, as Netflix have always stuck to a day and date structure. Meaning that the films that Netflix have produced have always been available on streaming and on theatres. This is a major reason, according to Variety as to why many major theatre’s won’t carry a movie from Netflix unless it’s an exclusive deal. Hence the reason as to why Netflix are pushing for ‘Netflix Movie Theatres’. Netflix aren’t new to the Oscar’s space, as they won their first Oscar for Icarus this year, which simultaneously debuted in theatres and on Netflix.  While they are no stranger to this scene, having their own ‘Netflix Movie Theatres’ would make life so much easier for them to put their own movies in cinemas.

Maybe there’s life in the old dog yet if the new boy still wants to hang around with the old boy!

hellblade

Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice

We love our gaming here at How To Kill An Hour and we absolutely loved Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice. More and more games are becoming more story based. This makes them feel and look a lot like movies, which is something that we feel where the gaming and movie space is moving to in the near future! This is Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice!

Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice: Plot

The story revolves around a young woman in a world of hurt, it’s a dark and profoundly deep narative that hooks you in from the very start of the game. The game follows Pict who is a young warrior, her task is to make her way to Helheim. Defeating all the enemies in her path. Why’s she going to Helheim? To rescue the soul of her dead lover from the evil goddess Hela. The game acts as sort of a metaphor, a metaphor for Senua’s struggle with psychosis. Your character, Senua, belives that her psychosis is a curse and is constantly haunted a dark entity called “The Darkness” , the voices in her head, which are known as the “Furies” and the memories from her past.

Batman Ninja

Batman Ninja: Batman like you’ve never seen him!

The guys recently went to see a brand new Batman movie from Warner Bro’s! However, this wasn’t just a regular Batman Movie. As this was a Batman movie that was animated and set in Japan! This is Batman Ninja! Batman has been transported from his regular stomping grounds of Gotham to fight crime. Yet he is fighting a familiar old foe. The Joker!

Batman Ninja is an animated movie from DC comics and Warner Bros that’s set in Japan. The movie is classed as an animated martial arts superhero film. While it features a lot of famous Japanese creatives on the movie. Including the creator of Afro Samurai: Takashi Okazaki acting as the character designer for the film.

So how does Batman go from Gotham to Japan? Well, Gorilla Grodd’s time displacement machine transports Batman, alongside Japanese versions of Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin, Red Robin, Alfred and Catwoman to Feudal Japan. Alongside these characters Gorilla Grodd also transports many of Batman’s worst enemies! The enemies confirmed to be of Joker’s allies in Batman Ninja are: Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Poison Ivy, Two Face, Clayface, Deathstroke, Bane and Gorilla Grodd himself. So there is some battle taking place in Feudal Japan!

Batman Ninja: Plot

The villains of the story take over forms of the Feudal Lords that divided the land of Feudal Japan. With the Joker, of course, taking the lead among the warring factions. Yet, due to Batman’s hightech weaponry becoming all but depleted immediately. The Batman must rely on his intelligence and the help of his team of allies to restore order to the land and return once again to Gotham City. In the present day of course.

What did we think of Batman Ninja? You’ll have to listen to the latest episode (276) of How To Kill An Hour to find out!

BORDERLINE

We got a chance to sit down and chat to British actor David Avery to find out more about him and his work, alongside more of what he likes to kill time with! David kills time doing  a lot of what he loves doing – acting! One of the shows he spoke about was “Borderline”

Borderline: Cast

Borderline is a mockumentary based on the lives and adventures of UK border officials. However, there is one thing that makes this show separate from other mockumentaries. The whole cast is made up of top comedy improvisers and  up and coming actors!

David has since moved on to do other shows in Troy, BACKSTAGE AT LIVE AID, The Night Manager and is due to star in short film ‘Tom’.

Borderline is a comedy which we feel that you’re definitely going to love. It’s something different and we wholeheartedly you check it out! It’s out on Netflix NOW!

Nintendo Labo

Hands On with Nintendo Labo

We got a chance to play with Nintendo’s latest creation: Nintendo Labo! It’s a brand new way to interact with the Switch and it’s with something you’d have never thought was possible. You interact with the Nintendo Switch console with cardboard. The cardboard is customisable and you create differing designs, which Nintendo are calling ‘Toy-Cons”

We got a chance to take two of the differing editions of the Nintendo Labo, the Variety kit, which has things like fishing rod, motorbike handles and a piano more on that below!

Nintendo labo: Robot

We also got a chance to use the larger build of the two, a HUGE backpack which turned us into a Robot! The Robot is a backpack that utilises (cardboard) weights and cables to detect a users movement. In the game, you are a robot, which literally travels around a level and destroys stuff. Buildings, spaceships, cars, anything! You name it you can destroy it! Better yet, if you crouch down you transform into a car which has zappers on it to do your destroying for you! Want to fly? Well you can, simply move your arms to the side and your robot takes to the skies! Simply land on anything and punch downwards to destroy and gain as many points as you can!

The Toy Con’s both the Variety version and the Robot pack are going to be a hit with a young audience, they certainly made an impression on us! Simply because it was the element of building our own accessories which made us feel accomplished once we finished building and began to play! Even if the Robot one did take 3 hours it was 3 hours well spent!

Nintendo Labo: Variety Kit

So the Variety Kit, we had a go on three different games, the Motorbike game, Fishing and a party type game with the Toy Con House! We loved the Motorbike game, we all had a lot of fun whizzing around the various amounts of tracks available to you. All differing in difficulty, so if you get really good, give the difficult level a go! We were popping wheelies all over the track, everyone ate our dust! We tried the fishing game, which was fun, but we were a little disappointed that every time we tried to catch a big fish, the line broke! Maybe we should work on our fishing skills. Finally we took on the variety game with the “Toy Con House”. In this game, we’ll be honest, we were a little confused at first.

However, once we got it underway we had a lot of fun bowling, Nick wouldn’t put it down until he got a stirke!! We also loved the main screen where the ‘home’ had differing interactions each time you put the different accessories in it. For example the house ‘keys’ started different games and changed the time of day. Whereas the attachment with the strings made it into a ‘Portal’ esque type environment. Overall the Nintendo Labo Toy Con 1: Variety Kit was a lot of fun! We can’t wait to put the Piano together and make a hit tune!

Listen to Nick Bright’s thoughts on this when he took it for a spin here!
