Rainbrow: Gaming with your eyebrows?

So, that shiny new iPhone X you have got? The one where animoji’s where cool for all of a week? It has a new use for the front facing camera! Your eyebrows! Introducing Rainbrow!

What about them?

So, you can now use them to play a game of Frogger. Well technically. Rainbrow is a brand new game that lets you navigate across a rainbow with your eyebrows. Nothing more. Nothing less.

You have to control a face emoji with your eyebrows. So, move down it by frowning and yes, you’ve guessed it, you move up the rainbow by looking shocked. Furthermore in a Super Mario star move, get enough points and you can crush everything in your path! As a result, no deaths either!

Most of all, make sure you play in a well lit room, otherwise the game won’t work.

Fifa franchise

Fifa franchise may be changing?

SOne of the world’s most popular gaming franchises may be changing! EA’s Fifa franchise may look completely different from 2019 onwards. In the form of subscription based gaming. According to EA Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Wilson, there will be no more annual releases in favour of continuous game updates.

According to him, consumer culture is gearing more towards digital downloads and subscribtion based models. EA’s own EA Access is a prime example. The Fifa franchise would move in an era where squad and kit updates would occur at the end of each transfer window.

“When we design a game that lives in a true streaming world, we have to think about screen size and session time” Explained Wilson. “The greatest disruptor to the consumption of entertainment media in the last five years has been the combination of streaming plus subscription” 

While, it can be said that this has been a long time coming. Since, Fifa at the end of the day only transfers and a few gameplay tweaks every year. So why not have these as simple game updates annually, whilst patching and adding bits in throughout the year?

Questions!

Most of all it boils down to how much consumers are willing to pay. How much would you pay to play EA’s Fifa franchise?

 

 

FOX

Disney Acquire 20th Century FOX

In the world’s worst kept secret. Disney’s crush on 20th Century FOX has had a fruitful ending. A mega-merger.

The deal amounts to $66B (the second largest merger this year, only to Broadcom-Qualcom at $130B) and includes, Movie Studios, Networks Nat Geo and FX, plus a 60% stake in Hulu. Rumour over here in the UK is that they want FOX’s to be allowed to acquire Sky. So, they too, will own Sky.

While it’s interesting to dream of X-Men in the Avengers movies.

Something may not be so apparent in the buying of FOX’s. Sure they now own a HUGE chunk of the movie business. But what are Disney jealous off……

Netflix

As a result of purchasing FOX and a controlling stake (?) in Hulu, (60% is ALOT) this is Disney’s throw of the dice in the streaming world. Hence, why Disney had such a strong love interest in Hulu.

Whether Disney will fold Hulu (if they can) and build up a brand new streaming service of their own. Consequently with exclusive Disney/FOX’s content. Is anyone’s guess. But will there be pull of Marvel content from Netflix? How badly will this hurt Netflix?

Only time will tell. But this is HUGE for the consumer.

Vine 2

Is Vine alive again? Vine 2.0 Teased for 2018!

First of all, everyone loved Vine. We were all sad when Vine shut down. Now Vine may be coming back! In the form of Vine 2! What this exactly is though is anyone’s guess. But we’re very excited about a potential resurrection of the 7 second beauty!

Vine 2 is the creation of Vine 1’s Co-Founder Dan Hofman. Vine 1 was purchased by Twitter, who shut it down at the beginning of 2017 (Seems so long ago now doesn’t it!) It spawned a lot of creators careers but alleged monetization problems caused many creators to flee to Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. Jake/Logan Paul being the most prominent of the group. King Bach moving to the big screen and staring in a number of TV shows and Movies.

Vine 2: The rumours

Whilst this isn’t a definite that Vine will be born as Vine 2, Hofman himself did tweet that he is working on a follow up to Vine and funding it himself as a solo project. His most recent tweets Hofman shares concept images of a Vine 2 logo known simply as V2 and making sure each artist gets an equal voice, being generous to each artist, creating a civilised community and a ‘nope button’ which allows you to form your own timeline.

Most of all, we don’t know much else about Vine 2 but we’re very excited by the prospect of it. Will it be as successful as Vine 1, have we all been Vined out? Maybe time will tell, 2018 is shaping up to be very interesting!

Mail ordered models for Christmas parties?

Apparently large companies and small companies a like are contracting modeling agencies to add some spice to their office parties. Mail ordered models (female and male) if you will.

While the aim of this is to allegedly make the party not be so poor no one turns up.

Consequently, Cre8 Agency are reporting that they’re sending 25 women and 5 men to a San Fran gaming companies christmas party ($200 an hour! So they’re not cheap!)

The Mail ordered models are no joke! Companies that Cre8 work with are said to handpick models and ask them to sign NDA’s. Ask them to share names of employees to pretend their friends with them. So the lie isn’t easily guessed!

Cre8 are booking gigs in record numbers highlighting that Mail ordered models are hugely popular! With one of their agents said to be one of the largest search engines in the world. That’s totally not Google.

Pot belleyed Gary from accounting friends with a hot blonde from Venice Beach. Who are we to judge?

Netflix Shame

Netflix throws some shade this Christmas

Netflix, the streaming giant has released some stats to the world and some of it is a little humiliating to it’s users. So the best course of action is to throw shade their way. Hence telling the world that one person in the UK has made it a daily ritual to watch the Bee Movie. Racking up a total of 357 times during the year of 2017.

Though in France the most viewed movie was Shrek Forever After, whilst in Germany it was repeat viewings of Oceans Eleven. 

Also in America, one viewer clocked up an impressive 365 viewings of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

While, we’re interested to how these are being watched? As background sound? Have they been left on and walked away and forgotten about?!

Netflix: That’s not all!

If you keep a keen eye on Twitter, Netflix didn’t just stop there. Revealing that “To the 53 people who’ve watched A Christmas Prince every day for the past 18 days“.  Then questioning “Who hurt you?” this tweet went viral and lead to people questioning their own viewing habits. Netflix’s twitter account in full swing replied with witty responses, leading to impressive virality.

Most of all, what we want to know is! Is there a movie club for The Christmas Prince?! Why have so many people watched it for so long?!
