Apple AR Glasses?!

According to Tech Journalist Robert Scoble Apple are working on an AR set of smart glasses with German lens specialist Carl Zeiss to bring AR to the masses in 2017.

Scoble has written of Apple’s VR plans before back in November he said that Apple were planning on building a PrimeSense sensor right into the TV and into the iPad/iPhone to create some sort of mixed reality.  Primesense are a 3D sensing company, the same company who created the original Xbox Kinect – Apple acquired them in 2013.

Tim Cook has spoke of AR in the past calling that AR will be bigger business in the long term than VR,Cook told Good Morning America in Septembe:

“There’s virtual reality and there’s augmented reality – both of these are incredibly interesting…….But my own view is that augmented reality is the larger of the two, probably by far…..Virtual reality sort of encloses and immerses the person into an experience that can be really cool but probably has a lower commercial interest over time. Less people will be interested in that.”

Smartwatch will tell you when you’re getting ill!

That smartwatch on your wrist may have just got a little bit smarter – they’ll be able to tell you when you’re getting ill before you actually do, according to US scientists.

Researchers made an app called “Change of Heart” which tracked health data, such as your heart rate, then used 60 people to conduct a study for up to two years and found that the stats changed from the baseline, when they were falling ill.

These stats are very important as the researchers say that with this data they could potentially help to develop an app which will detect things such as type 2 diabetes and in the study the app detected very early signs of Lyme disease in one of the scientists behind the study.

As the devices are constantly measuring our vitals they can often give a quick up to date information and your doctor (we presume) would have access to these stats they could detect not only things like the common cold but the onset of diseases due to small undetectable changes in your physiology.

If this comes to fruition a combination of a smartwatch to detect the changes and a smartphone to act as a health dashboard could save plenty of lives in years to come!

There’s a new underwear brand in town and their hilarious but functional at the same time!

They’re called Eletrunks and they allow a user to adjust himself without having to shove his hand down ‘there’ The website describes the underwear as ‘chafe-free’ and keeps ‘you from sticking to yourself’ – regarding the issue of not putting your hand down ‘there’ the website describes how and where you place your baby maker and when you need to ‘adjust’ just give the ‘lifter’ a tug.

Founder Michael Walker, told Mashable how he came up with this crazy idea:

“I quit my job last September to travel through Peru, Ecuador and Colombia. Somewhere in the first week of Ecuador I convinced myself to buy a motorcycle to carry me through the rest of my journey,” he told Mashable. “Here is where I realized how incredibly uncomfortable each type of men’s underwear can be and how there is no true functionality. Somewhere crossing the Colombia boarder the idea for Eletrunks crystallized.”

No Money No Problem!?

A homeless guy asks for change and for most of us (even if you don’t like to admit it) we will say “Sorry Mate I have no change” – well that excuse may soon be null and void.

A company from Amsterdam called N=5 have created a jacket that has NFC technology on it that allows you to pay using contactless. So if you do wish to donate to the homeless and you have your card on you, all you have to do is tap your card on to their jacket and voila you’ve donated.

The donations are one Euro per donation and the money can only be redeemed by a user through an official homeless shelter in exchange for a place to sleep or eat.

An employee of N=5 spoke to indy100 and said:

“[Firstly], these days we tend to carry little or no cash at all…..Secondly, most people would like to help the homeless, but they feel that giving money basically goes to supporting addictions. So, we wondered: how we can make it easier for people to help others who need it?

“ The only way to redeem the money received this way is through one of the official homeless shelters. The money never goes to the homeless person as cash, but is always redeemed in kind. This way, it can be spent on a place to sleep, a shower or food. The homeless person can also choose to spend it on self-improvement, like vocational training courses or even in building up savings.”

It’s only in a trial period at this moment in time N=5 hopes to refine the product and get it out on mass to those that need it.
