Dreamcast Portable
YouTuber GmanModz has created a fully functional Sega Dreamcast which has been shrunk for handheld use. Which is about the size of the Nintendo 2DS.
Hardware engineers focus on performance and longevity when creating traditional sized consoles. So Hardware Hackers find consoles such as the Nintendo Wii and hack them so they can be miniaturized. Simply by trimming away parts of the systems motherboard which aren’t 100% necessary. Which is why this playable Wii in an Altoids is possible and the above Sega Dreamcast can also be shrinkable.
GmanModz has been able to fit everything in a Dreamcast, including a power management chip, which was originally designed for portable Wii systems. There’s also a second display as well. It’s a tiny OLED meant to emulate the Dreamcast Visual Memory Unit cartridge which was plugged into the controllers. While that feature doesn’t work yet, the rest of the console works well and can run for 2hrs on a rechargeable battery.
