THE ORIGINAL BOOK OF DREAMS! – ARGOS

It’s almost Christmas time and do you know what that means? Hint: Argos.

Mistletoe?  – No

Chocolate? – No

Lots and lots of food? – Also No!

Alcohol?! – Nope!

So, what is it then?

Well, if you remember as a kid, Christmas almost always meant going through the Argos Christmas catalogue and picking out lots and lots of toys for Mum and Dad (oops!) we mean Santa to get for you. Circling them with a biro and a big grin on your face as you held that heavy catalogue of goodies on your lap.

Well, a brand new website has been launched that goes through the differing years of Argos Catalogos for your viewing pleasure, starting from the 70’s. While finishing up right to the present year for this years 2019 gifts!

Furthermore you are even able to click into each decades book and get a virtual look at what everyone was purchasing in yesteryear for Christmas.

Yes, you may get to go decade by decade but you also get to check out each year from within those decades catalogues! There’s a lot to look through and it was fun to check out the year in which you were born’s catalogue. Because, why not?!

As it can get a little nostalgic going through the different Argos catalogues so be warned! You may just want to be a kid again after viewing this website!

It’s not just a catalogue. It’s an Argos catalogue. (What? Wrong slogan?) – However, in all seriousness, as a kid in Britain an Argos catalogue was something that we all looked forward to looking through. Yet, there was just tons and tons of toys to look at and hope and wish that Santa would bring.

Can Google’s Home Hub Make Christmas Less Stressful?

Christmas is right around the corner! Wrapping, presents, parties, lots of organisation and STRESS?!? But, Can Google’s Home Hub Make Christmas Less Stressful? Some new research has been commissioned by Google which found how stressed Brits get at Christmas time. With nearly 2/3 of Brits finding Christmas at home and 1/3 of Brits wanting to hide in the bathroom to get some away from it all, furthermore 1 in 10 of us would rather swim naked with sharks than spend Christmas with the in-laws. It can be said that Brits find Christmas very stressful indeed!

Stress at Christmas

Google’s findings were very interesting indeed with wrapping weirdly shaped presents making up 20% of those surveyed worries. Putting on weight made up another 20%, while financial worries made up the most of peoples worries with 24% of those surveyed.  Furthermore Google even found that people would do their best to get away from people at Christmas time, for a bit of alone time. 45% of those surveyed would go to their bedroom and 8% would head to the pub! What Google found whilst undertaking this survey that a crazy amount of Brits do find it stressful over the festive period, a whopping 65%! The survey was conducted to find how people will be using Google’s home Hub to ease the stress. With Google’s Laurian Clemence stating:

“Google Home Hub was made for times like Christmas. Having family round over the festive season can be overwhelming, and this device is designed to fit in with your life by being your personal little helper when you really need it; from using recipes for sprouts while managing not to burn the turkey, to videos for wrapping oddly shaped gifts, to setting timers, entertaining the family and controlling the heating. As it’s powered by the Google Assistant, it works with a simple voice command – meaning that you can juggle all the different elements of Christmas at the same time, easily and seamlessly.”

The Stress Table

Below is a table of all the things that Google found were the most stressful around Christmas time, however, there was some that missed out! Finding things for the kids to do made up 7%, running out of alcohol 5% and having to play games with the family 10%.

Nintendo are calling the cardboard kits, ‘Toy-Cons’ and are designed to be solely used with the Nintendo Switch. Just by following the onscreen instructions that are displayed on the Switches touchscreen.

The Toy-Cons are so versatile that you can either use the Toy-Cons independently of the screen itself and you watch what’s occuring on screen. I.e: Fishing. Where all the computing is done inside the joy-con controller, or by using the whole console itself to find new ways to play! An example of this would be the use of a motorbike, whereby the switch is placed in the center of the ‘Toy-Cons’ and ‘Joy-Cons’ are placed either side and the accelerometer acts as a steering mechanism.

The most impressive of the lot was the use of a HUGE contraption, with the Robot ‘Toy-Con’. This cardboard accessory is HUGE and is placed on a users back and utilises cables to detect a users movement. (Read More) (Purchase)
