SO REAL

We recently chatted with Kelly Vero of SO REAL a company who have the fastest 3D Model tech tool in the business. They produce some awesome content. Content that is built at cinematic quality and game/VR ready assets which can be usde in games film and all XR!

They do this by using their patent pending scanning and conversion tech, the SO REAL tech then automates the productionof digital twins of 3D real life objects. It’s so incredibly cool, you really cannot tell which is real and which is computer generated. Check out the image at the bottom of this article for an example.

The SO REAL tech also does a whole host of things such as:

  • Game- / XR-Ready Guarantee
  • Cinematic Quality
  • Huge, Growing Portfolio
  • Physics Parameters
  • Cool Features. Such as: Built-in Physics Parameters, X-Ray Vision Mode and Shatter Effect

SO REAL: Why?

Immersion > Empathy > Understanding > Peace & Commerce

The guys over at SO REAL are all about making the world smaller. They want to allow you to immerse yourself in the content you engage with. If you want to understand or learn another language or culture, what better way to immerse yourself in it. (Other than flying to another country to experience a new culture first hand)

Well immersion helps with a few things other than making your carbon footprint smaller:

  • Immersive experiences are the next best thing.
  • Immersion leads to empathy.
  • Empathy leads to understanding.
  • Understanding leads to peace.

Their Mission Statement

By mass-producing cinematic-quality, XR- / game-ready 3D objects, we enable global access to immersive experiences and thus accelerate the journey to global understanding.

They believe that by making the world smaller and immersing individually you are able to emerge together as one. Aritsts and business people are the true ambassadors of the world and by immersing your content with SO REAL it would help with understanding others more. Therefore as SO REAL state that if it doesn’t WOW you, it’s not complete. You have to BUSHIDO, which is samurai code for commit and deliver, walk the talk! Collaborate with others and find a way to complete the task at hand. Plus humour. Having fun and laughing accelerates the speed of adoption of anything new that you are learning!

Check out what they promise to both their customers and their investors:

The SO REAL Promise (USP) for customers

Each SO REAL object:

  1. is game- / xR-ready.
  2. is of cinematic quality, (but we can make them more cartoony if you’d like).
  3. has astonishingly precise topology.
  4. has the physics parameters already built in.
  5. has optional cool features not available anywhere else:
    • Superman X-Ray Vision Mode built in. (Yes, you can look inside the objects!)
    • Shatter Effect. (precalculated shatter points and shards)

SO REAL’s proprietary automation technology reduces production time of 3D objects by orders of magnitude. As we can produce 100’s of new objects per week, we deliver you never-ending VARIETY.

The SO REAL promise For INVESTORS

SCALE!

SO REAL has 2 stages of multipliers.

STAGE 1, the rocket booster:
With very little effort, we create 1000’s of objects each of which can be sold 1000’s of times.

STAGE 2, the afterburner:
After a few years, the SO REAL automation tool will be a robust, stable product of its own. By licensing it to 3rd parties, 1000’s of 3D artists can also create 100’s or even 1000’s of 3D objects per year, each of which can be sold (by SO REAL) 1000’s of times.

An example of their work is below, can YOU tell the difference?

Above all we think that SO REAL are doing some fantastic work and we cannot wait to see what they come up with over the next few years. It’s an incredible piece of tech that we LOVE!

Death Stranding

We’ve recently sent Funk the task of giving Death Stranding a go and trying to figure out what the game is all about.

Death Stranding is the blockbuster title from Hideo Kojima that stars Norman Reedus (Walking Dead), Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale, Hannibal) Léa Seydoux (Robin Hood, Spectre) Lindsay Wagner (Samson, Grey’s Anatomy) just to name a few!

Death Stranding Plot

As, you’ve all seen the meme’s and chatter online all about how no one can figure out what the game is about. We won’t attempt to explain it. Yet what we will say is. We really enjoyed it. It’s a breath of fresh air, something different and Death Stranding, really caught our attention.

Death Stranding is a LONG game so be prepared to wait it out. It’s not a quick action packed type of game. It’s a long slow and rewarding action game. It will require patience. However, that patience pays off with a very good reward.

After the collapse of civilization, Sam Bridges must journey across a ravaged landscape crawling with otherworldly threats to save mankind from the brink of extinction.

In the near future, mysterious explosions have rocked the planet, setting off a series of supernatural events known as the Death Stranding. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and the planet on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam Bridges to journey across the ravaged wasteland and save mankind from impending annihilation.

What did you think of Death Stranding? Let us know via our socials, we’re @howtokillanhour across everything! We cannot wait to hear from you!

Maneater Shark Game

Maneater

This game, as you’d expect, doesn’t take itself seriously and follows players as they level up a shark. Yes a shark. It’s called Maneater and it’s like a cross between Jaws and GTA.

You play as a large Bull Shark who has to fight off other sharks in the waters of the Gulf Coast. Simply eat everything in sight. You also have to look for the evil human who slayed your father. Much like in the movie JAWS, you have to terrorise coastal waterways and eat many different humans. Until you find the right on of course. The game is also open world, explore sunken wrecks, lurk in swamps and even cruise the open ocean. The game has deep stats to drive your path through the game, customise your shark and evolve different parts of your body.

We don’t know about you but this looks like tons of fun!

The game developers (TripWire) president John Gibson compared Maneater to GRA when fans were treated to some footage of this crazy RPG at E3 this year.

The Maneater Devs Explain

He explained the game as follows:

“The three words that we think sum up the game best are: eat, explore, and evolve. Pete is the best fisherman in the gulf, [and] he’ll tell you he’s the best shark fisherman. He disfigures our baby shark at the beginning of the game, and he does some really nasty things, so he’s not a very nice guy.

The story of Maneater is told through the lens of a reality show called ‘Sharkhunters versus Maneaters’. It’s like GTA if you were a shark.”

Gibson went on to explain that there are  ‘three facets’ to this shark version of an RPG game, growth, life phases and evolutions.

“Growth comes about through eating things – nutrients, people, whatever you can find. And that’s kinda like your XP in the game; that allows you to level up, your shark will grow a little bit, he’ll get more powerful. Then at key phases we call ‘life phases’, you’ll make a big jump.

As you reach these life phases, you unlock evolutions, which can be applied to parts of the shark’s body. For example, you could get metallic teeth that’ll allow you to shred boats, or a powerful tail that allows you to jump to incredible heights.

Or you could get mutated lungs that allow you to spend a little more time on the beach getting those afternoon snacks.”

The E3 2019 trailer takes players through the Gulf Coast, you’ll progress from a small baby bull shark to a full grown beast. The story? Well Scaly Pete is a Fisherman who is seeking revenge for the death of his father. You guessed it. By a HUGE shark!

Call Of Duty World War 2 Developer Interview

Call Of Duty World War 2

Developer Interview: Michael Condrey

The How To Kill An Hour team recently headed down to a super secret, top location in London to play Call of Duty World War 2. There’s A LOT more gameplay content available for you soon! So keep an eye out for that! There won’t be any disappointment, that much we will say! However, check out what happened when our own Marcus Bronzy had an interview with chief operating and development officer of Sledgehammer Games, Michael Condrey.

Michael and Marcus discussed everything from the story mode to the multiplayer and even touched on the fan favourite: Zombies! Call Of Duty World War 2 is built for entertainment purposes. But the game is based on an important aspect of the world’s history, which brings authenticity and respect to the young men and women that lost their lives during one of the worlds most devastating wars. Michael really goes deep to tell us and explain what extensive lengths the Sledgehammer development team went to researching World War 2. To both teach themselves and those that play that game what went on during the times of 1939-1945.

Another interesting soundbite from the interview with Michael is how the guys put a stop to one of their developers! Sledgehammer Games hired an ex-pro, MLG star, Rambo Ray who kept on defeating all of us. So the devs put something in on their play tests to put him down a peg or two. Did it work? Check out the interview above to find out!

A MASSIVE THANK YOU!

Finally, a huge thank you to Michael and the team of Sledgehammer games for their time, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Call of Duty World War 2 releases Friday November 3rd on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows.

Dirt 4 Review

Getting down and Dirt-y

The Dirt series has always been at the forefront when it comes to combining real world driving mechanics with a fast-paced arcade style that oozes with charm. After two failed attempts to push the franchise in different directions with “Dirt Showdown” and “Dirt Rally”, both expertly mediocre in all facets, the series has gone back to its roots with the official forth entry, Dirt 4.

dirt_header

And praise the gaming gods it has. As just when racing genre was starting to turn stale, Dirt 4 drifts through the pack to show just how magical racing games can truly be.

Much like its predecessor, Dirt 3, the forth entry has a minimalist approach to why exactly you’re racing. You’re an up and comer who likes racing, and so you race. You’re here for a racing game, so what other excuse do you need?

DiRT-4

As you race, your character levels up by completing events and a selection of challenges given at the start of each race. As you gain more experience, different forms or race open up to you.

So, while you start off with good old-fashioned dirt rally races, by the end you’ll be taking part in massive dirt buggy events, night time speed runs, and hillside drift challenges that make Initial D look tame.

dirt-4 (1)

The verity of events to tackle is mind blowing. Then you find out that the game is also randomly generated, and soon realise Dirt 4 has the potential to technically create infinite tracks for you to race on forever!

Plus, the game now incorporates random events into races to keep you on your toes. Sometimes you might be notified over the headset that another racer has broken down, and so you’ll need to keep an eye out for their car on the track.

dirt4-2017-05-29-10-32-03-02

And at one point, a car had a crash and was wedged nicely into the trunk of a tree. These events keep the game constantly fresh and make the events feel like actual races, rather than static track you just drive along.

But when you’re not busy racing and laughing at your unfortunate opponents, you can also manage your very own team. You can buy cars from dealers or auction houses and start your own enterprise which involves hiring drivers and sorting out sponsors for your races.

While these menus are finicky and confusing at first, get it right and you’ll see a massive profit boost for every successful race you and your team manage to win.

RX_C3_Crosskart_Loheac__V2_2

Looking at your best time at the end of a rally to see that your team has also secured some other good positions in the leader board is a strangely satisfying feeling often unfound in racing games.

But what really pulls it all together is the games breath-taking visuals. Lots of racing games bank on their impressive visual presentation to hide their lacklustre gameplay (lookin at you Project Cars 2), but Dirt manages to weave its visual presentation into the very core of the racing itself.

While speeding through lush woods and glistening sands, a drone might fly ahead or a fox might run across the track after a rabbit. These little visual flairs go a long way to making Dirt 4 feel alive and full of energy.

d14f2a986a93266245a60d3cf6f5b795_1920_KR

If only the same could be said for the soundtrack.

After the masterpiece that was Dirt 2, the Dirt games have prided themselves on having star-studded soundtracks that perfectly encapsulate the rush of racing. Sadly, Dirt 4 seems to have forgotten about the joy of music and keeps it’s audible attractions to the most basic level.

Songs can be heard during menus, playback, loading screens, and diegetically through speakers when getting ready to race but that’s it. There’s no little prompt that appears on screen when a song comes on to let you know what it is, there’s no option to skip tracks, there’s not even a way to customise the music in the options menu.

Dirt-4-review-0

It’s a missing feature that serious racing fans won’t even realise is missing, but for those who adored the way music was incorporated into previous entries, prepare to be disappointed.

But considering how the only complaint with Dirt 4 is that the music isn’t very engaging, it goes to show just how much of a racing marvel Dirt 4 really is. With smooth and addictive gameplay, beautiful graphics and enough replayabilty to keep you driving for years, Dirt 4 comes in at first place as a must own title for any gamer.

Get Even

Get Even Game

Get Even is a brand new first person shooter game!

You wake up with no memory, no idea where you are and how you got there.

Walk around the mysterious abandoned asylum, following instructions from ‘Red’.

The game’s story involving the perception of reality was heavily inspired by films such as The Matrix and The Butterfly Effect.

In Get Even the player assumes the role of a man named Cole Black – private detective and merciless mercenary. One day, Black wakes up in an old, devastated asylum. His memory is a clean sheet – the only thing he can remember is a failed attempt at saving a young girl who had been held captive with explosives attached to her body.

In order to retrieve his memory and understand his past, Black has to journey into the depths of his own mind. This is possible thanks to a device resembling a virtual reality headset, which can read its user’s memories and let him relive them. Guided by his kidnapper—a mysterious Red—the hero delves into the past, trying to tell the truth from lies and real memories from deceptive visions. Black must hurry with solving the mystery behind the girl’s death before he loses the grip on reality and shares the fate of Red’s previous captives.

Get Even was initially planned to release on May 26th 2017. However, publisher Bandai Namco decided to delay the release date one month out of respect for the victims of the bombing at a concert in Manchester, England.

Get Even is available to buy on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch
