Judgement – Worth An Hour?

Haunted by his past, disgraced attorney Takayuki Yagami takes up arms as a private detective, clawing his way through Kamurocho’s underground crime network to investigate a string of grisly murders.

Judgement is created by the team that brought us the amazing Yakuza series. It’s an incredible game that brings you to the edge of your seat time and time again. It’s a physcological thriller, which will see the lines between justice and mercy teeter on the edge.

The game isn’t all run and gun action either. In Judgement you have to track suspects, discover clues and bring evidence to court. Consequently, also have to keep your witts about you though as those who seem to be your friend may be your foe and vice versa!

However, when there is action, there is action! There is Hollywood style action with combat sequences and cinematic twists that keep the action going. Which keep you engaged in the story! As there is a 2 different combat styles that you get to use, Crane Style, which allows you to mash up your opponent, street fighting style. Or play as the Tiger combat style and overwhelm opponents with powerful strikes.

Judgement Features

  • Dual Audio: Switch between the Japanese and English VO tracks at any point during the game. Experience Judgment using whichever language you prefer.
  • Dual Subtitles: Subtitles change based on which audio track is selected – Japanese or English. Japanese voice subtitles are presented in a way that represents the traditional Yakuza experience. While English voice subtitles match the English script.
  • Localization Pedigree: Furthermore Judgment’s localization has been handled in-house by SEGA of America’s talented Yakuza series localization team.

Judgment marks the first time in over 12 years that a game set in the Yakuza series universe has received an English dub for its Western release. A starstudded English voice cast brings Judgment to life. Greg Chun takes on the role of Judgment’s protagonist, Takayuki Yagami, supported by Crispin Freeman, Matthew Mercer, Cherami Leigh, Yuri Lowenthal, James Hong, Ed O’Ross, Amy Walker, Matt Yang King, Fred Tatasciore, Brian Mcnamara, as well as guest appearances by SungWon Cho, Cristina Vee, Max Mittleman, and many more.

Maneater Shark Game

Maneater

This game, as you’d expect, doesn’t take itself seriously and follows players as they level up a shark. Yes a shark. It’s called Maneater and it’s like a cross between Jaws and GTA.

You play as a large Bull Shark who has to fight off other sharks in the waters of the Gulf Coast. Simply eat everything in sight. You also have to look for the evil human who slayed your father. Much like in the movie JAWS, you have to terrorise coastal waterways and eat many different humans. Until you find the right on of course. The game is also open world, explore sunken wrecks, lurk in swamps and even cruise the open ocean. The game has deep stats to drive your path through the game, customise your shark and evolve different parts of your body.

We don’t know about you but this looks like tons of fun!

The game developers (TripWire) president John Gibson compared Maneater to GRA when fans were treated to some footage of this crazy RPG at E3 this year.

The Maneater Devs Explain

He explained the game as follows:

“The three words that we think sum up the game best are: eat, explore, and evolve. Pete is the best fisherman in the gulf, [and] he’ll tell you he’s the best shark fisherman. He disfigures our baby shark at the beginning of the game, and he does some really nasty things, so he’s not a very nice guy.

The story of Maneater is told through the lens of a reality show called ‘Sharkhunters versus Maneaters’. It’s like GTA if you were a shark.”

Gibson went on to explain that there are  ‘three facets’ to this shark version of an RPG game, growth, life phases and evolutions.

“Growth comes about through eating things – nutrients, people, whatever you can find. And that’s kinda like your XP in the game; that allows you to level up, your shark will grow a little bit, he’ll get more powerful. Then at key phases we call ‘life phases’, you’ll make a big jump.

As you reach these life phases, you unlock evolutions, which can be applied to parts of the shark’s body. For example, you could get metallic teeth that’ll allow you to shred boats, or a powerful tail that allows you to jump to incredible heights.

Or you could get mutated lungs that allow you to spend a little more time on the beach getting those afternoon snacks.”

The E3 2019 trailer takes players through the Gulf Coast, you’ll progress from a small baby bull shark to a full grown beast. The story? Well Scaly Pete is a Fisherman who is seeking revenge for the death of his father. You guessed it. By a HUGE shark!

Google Stadia: Netflix of Gaming?

Google have announced an unveiled a brand new gaming platform. Which is very different to what Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are offering right now. It’s called Stadia and the games will be streamed to you via an internet browser. Which are said to be better than console quality! Stadia is said to work on existing desktops, laptops, tv’s and phones, said Phil Harrison VP and general manager of Google. Even the least powerful of PC’s can run Stadia!

The tech giant also revealed a controller for Stadia. It looks much like a regular console controller. Though it also has a Google Assistant button and a capture button to capture gaming and directly put it on YouTube.

Google Stadia Controllers

ID Software announced that Doom Eternal will be one of the first games on launch. Which will be in 2019 in the US, Canada, UK and Europe. Exactly when that is in 2019 is unknown. No pricing was announced either.

Stadia: How?

How can even smartphones, TV’s and not so powerful PC’s play these top end games? Well, because the games run elsewhere on Google’s own high end hardware. You connect to it via the internet, the hardware then does all the hard work and sends you a video feed of what you are playing back to you. Essentially.

However, other services such as ‘OnLive’ which tried this back in the day (2010-2015) and Nvidia’s GeForce Now where some have encountered lag. They suffered due to the difficulty of offering high end games via an internet connection. But the question remains is it their end or is it the consumers own internet?

Lag: A delay between an action being performed on a controller or keyboard and the action being replicated on screen.

Google have said that the controller will connect to the internet directly. Which will then communicate with their servers which will reduce the amount of lag that players may encounter.

Impressively (if they pull this off) Google will be able to offer games at 4K at 60FPS and up to 8K 120FPS in the future. (Who needs 8K?!?) The Stadia is also insanely powerful with a GPU of 10.7 GPU teraflops while Xbox One X the worlds most powerful console has 6 GPU teraflops and the PS4 pro has 4.2 GPU teraflops. Basically, it’s very very good.

(BBC)

Google Stadia: We have some questions.

All very impressive indeed although we have some questions:

  • Are the games like Netflix: Pay to play many games for 1 subscription fee
  • Or we have to buy our own games?
  • Can we download our games to play them offline?
  • How does multiplayer work?
  • Are the multiplayer lobbies/parties
  • Is there protection from hacking?
  • What happens when the internet goes down?
  • How will my games me kept secure
  • How many games are available?
  • Will all the AAA games be available at launch
  • Will the footage be flagged for copyright from Stadia’s own capture system from YouTube’s Copyright flagging software?

But most of all, how laggy will it be? People’s internet will need to be able to cope with the game, if there’s the slightest bit of lag it will put gamers off. Coupled with multiplayer games, if there’s double the lag, people will not want to use the service.

It’s an interesting time to be a gamer certainly as Microsoft have their cloud service in the works too with ‘Xcloud’ so is this the way gaming is heading or will it supplement good ol’ physical disks or downloads.

Xbox Controller How To Kill An Hour

Whose Team Are You On?

It’s time to get to the bottom of a debate that’s been raging since the beginning of time. When we say time, we mean about the last 20 years, but a while, nevertheless.

In the battle of the games consoles are you team XBox or team PlayStation? Let’s delve into both and pick a side. There are plenty of opinions on either side about what offers the best value for money and where the best gaming experience lies but you can only choose one side in the long run.

Xbox Controller How To Kill An Hour

Xbox All The Way

More specifically the Xbox One. The beauty of this particular console is that you can play games from way back when. Unlike the PlayStation, which has zero compatibility, you can dig out your old Halo game and play it on the latest model, no problem. These old favourites are part of the reason people are so loyal to the brand.

The other reason is its multi functionality. Yes, you can stream Netflix and Spotify it and more. It’s just so much more than a gaming device and gives you great value for money. You don’t need to spend your money looking for new games or parts, like a car enthusiast looking for vauxhall breakers, it just lasts and lasts. A classic every time.

But PlayStation?

Has so much to offer. Yes, it might not have all the capabilities of the Xbox One but when it comes to actual game play this is head and shoulders above the rest. You want the best games, the best graphics and the most exhilarating gaming experiences? You get a PlayStation4.

These games, such as Marvel’s Spider Man and other classics keep PlayStation fans snapping up the latest offerings. It’s a shame that you can’t play games from older models on the latest PS, but hey, you’d completed them anyway right?

So, who wins in this battle of the tech giants? If we look at other factors such as price, then both come in at around the same amount, so it comes down to what your personal tastes are. You can’t deny that the PlayStation4 nails the game play aspect with outstanding, exclusive games. It’s focused in on this aspect and pulled it off with aplomb.

XBox One, however, offers so much more than just game play and fits into a family home so easily and usefully. It simply offers more features for the same money but does compromise on game exclusivity. That doesn’t matter too much though, bearing in mind your back catalogue is still relevant.

It’s a tough one and not something can be decided easily. True gamers will almost certainly go down the PlayStation route while those looking for a bit more bang for their buck will go Team XBox. With the promise of bigger and better developments from both these giants over the coming months, we may need to revisit our decisions again but for now, pick a team and enjoy killing an hour or two on this fantastic technology.

5 Exciting New Gaming Trends

If you need tangible proof of the advancement of technology, the gaming world is the place to go. When you think about how far gaming has come in the last few decades, it’s remarkable. From slow black and white screens to intense real-time gaming, the industry has made leaps and bounds. However, it’s not planning on stopping anytime soon. So, if you want to know what you can expect from the gaming world in the next few years, take a look below.

VR Headset

Virtual Reality

Virtual reality isn’t a new concept in the gaming world, but there is room for so much more than there is right now. 3D has been around longer than many people know. The reason that it wasn’t as mainstream as it is now is because it wasn’t affordable. Like the majority of innovative technology, the wealthy are the ones who get to experience it first. However, VR headsets are about to change the gaming world forever. For example, Oculus Rift, created by Palmer Luckey, has a huge field view, quicker response than other headsets and immersive 3D technology.

Secondary Screens

For years, gamers have been complaining about not being able to do two things at once while playing certain games. This is especially true for action games where time is precious and the last thing you want to do is pause the game to access another screen. The introduction of secondary screens, like Wii U and Xbox SmartGlass. If you are going to use an additional screen, you’ll need a quality HD one the LG 27UK850 Monitor. Being able to access maps or menus from one screen and continue to play on another will make gaming that more exciting.

PS4 Controller

Cheap Gaming

One of the downsides to gaming is that it can be expensive to kit yourself out with everything you need to get the full experience of games on the market right now. That’s why so many people are playing games on their phones. You can expect to see a rise in android powered game consoles where people can get their hands on cheap and free games with a 1080p gaming experience. The industry will no longer rely on big corporations to create expensive games.

Augmented Reality

Augmented reality has just as many possibilities as virtual reality. When using augmented reality, a gamer’s reality is altered to provide them with a new experience each time. For instance, games like DroidShooting can be played on phones. The game takes your surroundings and you have to shoot at the droids that appear within those surroundings. You’ll see your own reality on your phone but the game will add to it to create an experience.

Cloud Gaming

If you thought the Cloud didn’t have its finger in this pie too, you’d be wrong. The future of gaming will be more accessible, like music and movies, to those who want to game at the click of a button. All it will take is a device and an internet connection to play a selection of different games online.

Gaming is constantly changing, but always for the better.

Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is OUT NOW and we think that it is absolutely incredible. Not only is it beautiful but the story is said to be one of the most interesting and immersive gaming experiences out there right now. We will definitely come back to you with a full look at Metro Exodus in the future. But in the mean time, we’re on board. This game has no competitive multiplayer, it has no co-op but what it does have is a vivid story which will keep you entertained for hours. It looks like a movie, what more could you want?!

Five years on from the previous Metro game (Metro: Last Light) you control Arytom and a band of Spartan Rangers. WHo have fled the Moscow Metro and embark on an incredible continent spanning epic journey. Not just any journey either, it’s across a post apocalyptic Russia.

The story is inspired by novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky. Metro Exodus’ storyline is a huge expansive single player experience that blends an incredible narrative. With high octane impact combat, exploration, survival and stealth. Therefore creating one wonderfully atmospheric, immersive world. We haven’t been this excited for a single player experience since Red Dead Redemption II!
