5 alternatives to the World Cup
/in Entertainment/by billywrightIt’s about to be Summer 2018 and what does that mean? The World Cup 2018 in Russia! Most people cannot wait to cheer on the lads to hopefully bring back the trophy. What if you are not one of these people and want alternatives to the world cup? Well, we’re specialists in finding some super cool things to do! So we have another great list for you guys to check out. This time it’s all about great things to do if you’re not a football fan.
Here’s our Top 5* alternatives to the World Cup:
Pubs that are more than pubs
ABQ London
ABQ is described as the world’s first ‘immersive molecular cocktail bar’ – Attendee’s are there to make and infuse your own drinks inside a Motorhome. All the while listening to some hip hop and gangster rap. They started up in 2015 and you’ll be working various different molecular techniques to cook and make your own cocktails. Then of course you can drink up! Plus there’s alcoholic options available for those that wish to.
Four Thieves
Four Thieves is like no pub you have seen before! It’s unlike anything we have seen before, we’ll say that much! If you want fun on a Friday night head down to the Four Thieves pub as we can guarantee if you’ll have fun! There is so much to do there besides drink copious amounts of alcohol. So much more, if you’re a big kid, you’ll love it. Ok I’ll stop hyping it up now and actually tell you why we think that it’s so good. It’s impressed us. Can you tell?
This pub has a lot of games inside it, there’s a whole room dedicated to it! There’s Moonshine Racing which is remote controlled car racing, Virtual Reality Booths, Mini-Golf and Retro Arcade games! The beers that the guys sell here are all brewed from their own on-site brewery. Great food available, lots of different events on weekly, it’s no surprise that the pub picked up a best pub nomination from Time Out just two weeks after opening!
Alcotraz
This bar is a lot of fun, it’s definitely something different than what we have experienced before. It’s an immersive theatrical experience that gets you from the second that you arrive at the destination.
Alcotraz bar is inspired by Hollywood movies that have brought to life one of America’s most infamous prisons. Right in the heart of London. The bar is London’s very first immersive theatrical cocktail bar. It’s not an experience that stops once you get to the end, it’s a fully functional bar once it’s over. If you manage to escape the guards that is.
Crazy Golf
Junkyard golf
Four nine hole crazy golf courses of weird junk, mad holes and bad puns.
Encounter UFC bear cages, scrapyard slides, creepy clowns and treehouse bars in search of the perfect round. Not to mention the mind-altering UV garage section.
Choose to play one of FOUR courses PABLO (Polluted Paradise), BOZO (Circus Freaks), GARY (Scrapyard Challenge) or BRUCE (Old School Movie Mash-Up).
FOUR bars, serving banging cocktails, like the Golf Lundgren or Who’s Your Caddy and tasty snacks including hot dogs, nachos and popcorn.
Swingers Golf
There’s quite a few golf pop ups in London and Swingers is one to take note of, as it incorporates drinking into the mix too! Swingers is a crazy golf venue that is located both in the city and also located in London’s west end. To show how crazy this venue is there is only a limited amount of walk up tickets available to punters. For the most part, it is a booking only venue, so make sure you book your tickets to avoid disappointment! One thing to note is that Swingers is an 18+ venue as there is alcohol served on the establishment.
Swingers is a crazy golf club that turns the traditional crazy golf ideology and turns it on it’s head. It has regular crazy golf of course, but it also has street food available to it’s punters and amazing drinks to create one incredible social experience.
VR
Anvio VR
Unlike a lot of VR games or events this is an experience in which you’re allowed to play! Hence why they’re describing it as a playground! What we mean by play is that you’re free to move around. As you’re not confined to a small play area. So you get to run around a HUGE room and experience, quite literally, a whole new world!
In the worlds that Anvio VR have created you can run, jump and even wave to your partners whilst in the game, all that and much much more! Their play area is also fully wirless so there’s no worry about running into a wall or falling over wires. Thus creating a much more realistic and immersive experience. Plus there’s guides in the room, who are there to help prevent you from crashing into any walls, if you do manage to find your way to a wall that is!
Star Wars VR
Star Wars: Secrets of the Empire is a full sensory immersive VR/AR experience that takes you inside the action. Literally! It’s location based, so the sets are interactive too, there’s also real time effects that help to heighten your experience. They really go ALL IN, in trying to make your experience as real as possible.
You really have to experience yourself to truly understand what we’re talking about. (It’s THAT GOOD trust us!) Plus we’re really not allowed to delve into too much as the experience is all about discovery! We wouldn’t want to ruin the secret for you either!
Quirky Things in London
Ballie Ballerson
An adult ball pit is open for a limited amount of time, so get there quick! It’s based in London and called BallieBallerson, it’s filled with 20,000 balls and the venue has two floors, one which offers alcoholic drinks and food, while downstairs is where the nostalgia happens!
There’s even an option for bottomless spaghetti and meatballs! You can even go one step further, for £35 you get bottomless spaghetti and an hour in the pool and if that wasn’t enticing enough you are also allowed unlimited prosecco! (Just don’t go throwing up in the pool, ok!)
Tech Travel
Go to the Arcade hotel
First and foremost it’s a hotel and comes with a wide range of rooms to suit your needs. Perfect alternatives to the world cup eh?.The Arcade Hotel caters for singles, couples and groups and they all have their own unique gaming related nickname. There’s of course, lots of games available to play and there are a few rooms all set up differently for you to enjoy them! There’s a retro room, a multiplayer room and a HUGE gaming room that you’ll never want to leave! We had lots of fun here and we would like to maybe go back some day! Check out the video to see more or read more for a detailled analysis of our visit below.

Lightline
/in Gadgets / Tech/by billywrightEver almost been ran over when not checking the road whilst on your smartphone? Well for the clumsy and daredevils out there a pilot project in Bodegraven,Holland is trialing a system called +Lightlines which fit snuggly in between the cracks in the paving bricks of a pavement/road.
It’s basically a bright laser strip which is coloured either red (stop) or (green) so your candy crush marathon can continue whilst you do less important things like looking out for your life.
At the moment they are only covering one intersection near some schools, but they’ll become widely available if it catches on. It all seems kinda cool to us but the Dutch Road Safety organisation WN stating that these devices “reward bad behaviour”
Auto Focus Glasses
/in Gadgets / Tech/by billywrightIf you need glasses you may not need to in the near future! (Kind Of) If you wear glasses you know about the time and hassle it usually takes to get your eyes tested every few years to see if you got to pay loads of money to get your glasses replaced if your eyesight has got worse.
Well, scientists from the University of Utah have created some prototype glasses which could make progressive lenses obsolete for the older folk. These glasses have electronically activated lenses which use infared to judge distance – then the glasses focus automatically and within 14 milliseconds, on whatever it is you’re looking at, regardless of distance. Once the glasses are ready for commercial use they could eliminate the use of multiple pairs for different uses for example instead of 1 for reading and 1 for driving, you’d only require one pair of smart glasses.
To get the right setting for everyday use, the users upload their prescriptions to the glasses by pairing them with a smartphone over bluetooth. You still require to charge the glasses but, at least it saves you a lot money in the long run!
What happens if you run our of battery mid use or while driving?
What can’t be ‘smart-ified’
Would you use these?
What do you think is the danger for these?
Are these a better version of getting bionic eyes?
Raging Justice – Be prepared for a nostalgia rush!
/in Entertainment/by billywrightRaging Justice is back and it’s coming to the modern consoles and getting a HUGE update!
From MakinGames, an independent studio comprised of old school Rare Studio veterans. The new version of Raging Justice plays a lot of homage to the original. It’s nostalgic and has a lot of 8-bit sounds to take a user back into the arcades where you put money into a machine to play for a until the sun went down.
For those unaware of what Raging Justice is, you take on hordes and hordes of thugs. (Much like Horde modes on Call of Duty or Gears of War) Once you get to the end of the level, you as a user will be tasked of whether or not to arrest the thugs or to destroy them. Are you a bad cop or a good cop?
Depending on what you choose throughout the game will determine what ending you get once you complete it.
Raging Justice: Features
There are a range of different things at your disposal to complete levels, such as a range of weapons. These aren’t just guns, pick stool and throw it at your foes. Choose a baseball bat to knock some blocks off or even use the deadly pigeon! Furthermore, there is even a range of vehicles you can jump on to run down your enemies. Not just a regular vehicle either. Jump on a tractor or a lawnmower to run them down. Furthermore, you’ll be untouchable but if the vehicle runs extremely low on health you better jump out buddy as no one is saving you!
We don’t know about you but we’re very excited for this game!
Raging Justice will be released in 2018 and feature on Mac, PC, PS4, Switch and XBox One

Live-action Detective Pikachu movie!
/in Entertainment/by billywrightDetails are scarce but Detective Pikachu will be on your screens and solving crimes in 2019! The movie will star Ryan Reynolds doing the detective part whilst Pikachu will be his trusty sidekick. Whilst surprisingly he will also voice everyone’s favourite pokemon! (Deadpool esque Detective Pikachu won’t appear, sadly!) The movie is based on a popular Nintendo 3DS game of the same name in Japan and we cannot wait for it!
Detective Pikachu: When can I see it?
Universal Pictures are hoping to start showing the live-action Pokemon film outside of Japan on 2019’s Mothers Day, May 10th 2019. Disney’s Avengers will be released a week prior. Which is smart from Universal because the sales will be disastrous for a Pokemon movie the same week as Avengers. Sorry Pikachu!
