Anchor.FM

Producer Bill checked out Anchor.FM this week and absolutely loved it!

Anchor is a whole new way to experience audio. It’s the first platform built for an audio-first world!

In Anchor, everyone has a station. Stations are made up of bite-sized segments (voice, music, news, sound effects) that make it super easy to discover, hear, and share your new favorite audio. When you hear something you love, applaud it. (It’s a Like you can actually hear!)

Whatever you’re into, we can almost guarantee there’s a station on Anchor about it.

Basslet

We have tried the Basslet and found it to be amazing! To listen to the guys chatting about this please click here!

Check out the information below for more and click here to learn more!

The Basslet is the watch-size subwoofer that delivers bass straight to your body – for a powerful music experience that headphones alone cannot provide.

Low end gives music its power. The Basslet’s high-performance LoSound engine precisely recreates bass frequencies down to 10 Hz. Feel the thump of a kick drum or the groove of a funky bassline in high definition. There is nothing like it out there – and we’re very proud of it.

  • Plug and play – no software or configuration needed
  • 6+ hours playtime
  • Totally Silent
  • Frequency response from 10 to 250 Hz
  • Small sender to connect to any device with mini jack

Ambulances Interrupting Tunes!

There’s a huge reason not to play music REALLY loud while in your car. That’s not because other people don’t want to hear your music but rather more that you won’t hear the emergency vehicle coming full speed behind you until the last moment.

Well in Sweden you won’t have to worry about that possibility no more. Sweden are testing Ambulances in Stockholm with a system that interrupts in-car audio via the FM transmitter on your car with a voice warning when they’re close by and responding to a crisis. What’s more interesting is that the system is speed sensitive so you’ll recieve notices from greater distances when you’re on the motorway.

Episode 159 – Dodow

Who Sampled!

As DJ’s a lot of the guys often find themselves asking “what track is that” or “Who sampled that” well that question is no longer needed to be asked as we have found a really cool app that does all that for you it’s called “WhoSampled”

With this app you are able to discover what a track is and who sampled it. You can scan your own Apple Music/Spotify and iTunes libraries for lists of samples, covers and remixes all within the app.

The app then pulls up a lot of information on the tracks for example:

Where was this song sampled?

Who covered my favorite artists?

What remixes were made for this track?

The best music discovery tool for all DJ’s out there or anyone who is deep into music!

The app even has a “Now Playing” feature if you’re on iOS allows you to switch from your music player to WhoSampled to discover all the musical connections for the song you’re listening to.

Sonos: Play 1’s

We love our music here at How To Kill An Hour and we love our wireless speaker technology even better! Ever since Apple took the 3.5mm adapter away from us all we have been looking at ways at getting your music out there and in the room wirelessly. We love the Bragi Dash’s but what about if you want to share the music?! Well the SONOS:Play 1’s are here to save the day!

These little speakers pack an incredible punch and they sound absolutely magnificent! Pack some great base and some decent high ends these guys really sound good! But what’s even better is that if you have more than one or a selection of SONOS speakers you can control them all from the SONOS Controller app. Adjust the sound levels independently of one another. So the one in the bedroom can be quiet and the one in the office can be incredibly loud or control the sound levels at exactly the same time. But what’s cool about them is that they will be playing the same piece of music at the same time from the exact same source! They can also:

  • Two PLAY:1s work as Sonos home cinema rear speakers.
  • Or as Stereo Speakers
  • Wall or stand-mountable.
  • Be updated over Wi-Fi
  • Uses Trueplay Tuning
