Loop Ball
/in Gadgets / Tech/by billywrightThis is Loop Ball, a racket ball game that keeps score itself and even records the speed of the players hits!!
Posted by How To Kill an Hour on Tuesday, 25 July 2017
Loop Ball is a smart way to play racquetball and it’s not a technique either, the ball is smart enabled! So the ball becomes the count and measure to count how many times the ball has been hit by each player and the distance between the two of them. The ball also becomes the referee, tracking accurate and safe metrics for the game and stores your games so you get the ability to share them with your friends!
Check out the video below to see more! (The product was once called Smartball)

Fake but looks totally REAL Barack!
/in Gadgets / Tech, Technology/by billywrightThe University of Washington have created technique that allows them to make a fake Barack Obama that makes him say whatever they want and it look really real!
They have used a neural network AI to model the shape of Obama’s mouth and to get the visual/audio they mapped the model to 14 hours footage of President Obama. Now they are able to match any audio to fake Obama by this method or by using an impersonator.
SCARY STUFF! (But also kinda cool)

Memory Implants are Almost here!
/in Future, Gadgets / Tech/by billywrightThe idea of a chip that allows record and replay memories may seem farfetched, Apple believe it soon will become reality.
During a TED talk in Vancouver Tom Gruber co-creator of Siri said:
“I believe AI will make personal memory enhancement a reality. I think it’s inevitable.”
Konbini are reporting that companies from all across Silicon Valley are working on designing telepathic AI that would allow such feats.
It’s hoped that tech like this would help in law suits and in the courts with things like assault, sexual assault and other crimes, acting as irrefutable evidence. While this is good, there is the worry of privacy and how ‘memories’ could be kept insanely secure (nothing can beat it being solely in your mind though eh?) To this privacy worry Gruber stated:
“We get to chose what is and is not recalled and retained. It’s absolutely essential that this be kept very secure.”
He’s spitballing of course, but we shall see what happens in the future.

Would you get an implant?
What memory would you like to re-see?
What memory wouldn’t you like to see again?
What memory would you delete?
Are we all going to become cyborgs?
Elons Tunnel Machine Name?
/in Gadgets / Tech, Technology/by billywrightElon Musk is now, as you may know, is looking at building a load of tunnels under LA to deal with it’s traffic problem. Well Elon Musk despite having to yet overcome things like permits or if his idea will work, or if he even has enough money to actually build the thing took to Twitter to think of some names for his tunnel building machine. This is what he has come up with thus far:

VR Models!
/in Gadgets / Tech, Technology/by billywrightAn incredibly detailed piece of art was created recently entirely in VR and printed out via a 3D printer and the results are incredible.
Oculus Character artist Giovanni Nakpil posted an image of an amazingly detailed 3d printed model of an ogre that was modelled entirely in Oculus Medium, a VR Sculpting App. The model had exquisite detail and subtle colur graduations that left people stunned and some questioning if it had indeed been made entirely in VR on an app.
Nakpil said to Mashable:
“I did not do any sanding or any post-print work whatsoever,” says Nakpil, when asked if there were any post-3D printing touch-ups or sanding. “The smooth nature of the print comes from the resolution of the Medium model as well as the high-resolution settings from the 3D printer.”
To achieve such incredible detail Giovanni had to use a state of the art 3D printer, the Stratasys J750, that is described as being one of the best in the world. It produces up to 350,000 colours and the company Stratasys have stated that it is “the world’s first full-color, multi-material 3D printer”
REAL LIFE IRON MAN
/in Gadgets / Tech, Technology/by billywrightAll of your childhood dream (and adulthood dreams too for that matter) have come true and your prayers answered. A life size, fully animated Iron Man suit is real! (But it will cost $360,000.
Chinese Comoany “The Toys Asia” we can get an inisight into what it would be like to be Tony Stark and save the world as Iron Man! Their version of the Iron Man suit includes 46 motors which control and power 567 moving parts!
It even has it’s own remote control so you can be all action hero like and open the armour to see all of the components inside of it. But don’t go walking into it though. You can’t actually sit in it or walk in it, or do anything cool with it. Due to all the moving parts (and pesky health and safety) it’s basically a really cool ornament.
Still looks good to look at right?
